Online retailer Ulmart launched a new type of outlets – order execution centre (OEC) of small format. The first object was opened in early May at the Okhta Mall shopping and entertainment centre in Saint Petersburg.
The next OEC is planned to open in Moscow in the shopping center U Rechnoy, near Festivalnaya street. In 2018, Ulmart plans to open 10 OECs in the Central and North-Western federal districts. The amount of investments for the opening of each object in the company was not disclosed.
The new centres will be located mainly in shopping centres and on a quiet road yet close to a metro station – so Ulmart is going to attract more buyers, including a young audience, some of whom use the car less often and prefer to make purchases in objects near the metro and public transport stops, explained business director of the retailer Oleg Pchelnikov.
This stores will occupy an area from 300 to 1,000 sq m. For comparison, the area of the outlets Ulmart Outpost is 30-100 sq m, and large city OEC – an average of 2,000 sq m. New centres will be equipped with their own warehouse with an area of 250 sq m, and it is several times larger than the trade zone. "This allows you to store the required amount of stock for operational orders in the" here and now "model. Customers can order the goods and receive them on the day of order in five to seven minutes", explained the director of business operations Ulmart Dmitry Bogomolov.
According to the representative of the company, the assortment at this centres will be from seven to ten thousand items, all retail categories will be available to buyers: from digital equipment and electronics to children's and sports goods.
